Time to Leave India

moving on

Well my time in India has come to a close. I actually cut this part of my trip short by a week. I chose to leave early for a couple of reasons. First I wanted to change my next destination to Bangkok (instead of Hong Kong... easier to fly into Bangkok and then out of HK instead of making a loop and flying in and out of HK) and second because I was ready to leave. I have said all along that if I wanted to stay somewhere I would and if I wanted to leave I would also do that.

India is a difficult place to travel. Although I saw some amazing things and met some amazing people, I also got tired of the day to day of India. It was impossible to get away from the filth, grime, poverty, people, smells, etc. But on the flip side, that is what makes India such an amazing place and I think one day I will go back and see other parts of the country. I hear that it is completely different in the southern part of the country and will one day find out for myself.

After over 4 months on the road I have learned a lot about myself and about the people in different parts of the world. In the end everyone is just like you and me. We all want the same things in life. The Indian people are very warm and friendly, and although sometimes overbearing, they too want happiness and a good life.

My next stop is South East Asia which I know will be another amazing experience. I will start in Thailand and work my way through Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and up to Hong Kong in the next 3 months or so. Will keep you all posted!
