I continued my island hopping by heading to Naxos. I spent 2 nights in Naxos as a rest time before heading on to Mykonos. I had a private room for the first time and really enjoyed the just relaxing for a couple of days. I did try windsurfing for the first time in 25 years or so. I did ok, but it was too windy (is that possible for wind surfing?). It is difficult to learn when it so windy, but I still made the effort. I wanted to try it again later in the trip, but the wind continued to get stronger everyday. Maybe on another stop....
My last stop on the Greek Islands was Mykonos. This also turned out to be a pretty relaxed few days. Mykonos is definitely known for its beaches and for its parties on the beach. I rented a 4 wheeler and wandered the island for a couple of days and checked out some of the farther out beaches.
It was best to stay out of the city on a couple of evenings because the big cruise ships were docked in the port and were busing people back and forth to the city. Getting out of the city yielded great views of the landscape and of the many churches throughout the island.
And great sunsets.
From the islands I took a ferry back to Athens where I had a day to relax, update the website, figure out what to do in my next destination. I head out on September 1 for Johannesburg, South Africa. I really enjoyed my 2 1/2 months in Europe. I experienced so many different things, met some great people from all around the world and am ready for the next phase of my adventure!
I have arranged to do a 21 day adventure tour where I will travel from Victoria falls, through Botswana, Namibia, and back to Cape Town. Hopefully I will have the chance to see lots of animals and do a few other adventurous things along the way.
